Fundraising donations are for events such as an auction or prize; each donation package includes admission for four people.
Separately, the zoo provides free admission each year to charitable organizations in and around Kansas City, evaluated on need and value to the community, so members and guests of a 501(c)(3) can enjoy a day at the zoo.
Group admission is released in limited amounts three times per year, in fixed donation periods; applications are not reviewed until a period closes and are not considered outside the periods.
Group requests do not cover fundraisers, auctions, prizes or giveaways (use the fundraising request instead), school, daycare, camp or church field trips, or staff outings and attendance retention gifts.
Completing a request does not guarantee approval or the amount requested.
Only one group application per organization is considered per donation period, and new applicants receive priority over organizations already helped that year.
Donated admission expires December 31 of the year it is issued.
Tips from the program page: For an auction or raffle, use the fundraising request form, not the group request. · Field trips go through the zoo's Group Sales team rather than the donation program; use the contact on the zoo's page. · The group program's status is shown on the zoo's page; check it before applying, as a period may be closed.
