Most Scholastic book donations go through established partnerships with large national nonprofit and literacy organizations; because of limited inventory and request volume, Scholastic fulfills only an extremely limited number of unsolicited requests.
Donated books cannot be used for auction, resale, gift baskets or fundraising; they must be given at no cost directly to the recipients.
Recipients cannot request specific titles; books are sent based on age range and availability.
Scholastic does not make monetary donations, and donations are not renewable.
Applications are reviewed in set windows: deadline July 31 for September delivery, October 31 for December/January delivery, and February 28 for March delivery. Applicants hear back within 4 to 6 weeks of the deadline and must reapply in a later window if not selected.
Tips from the program page: Organizations with established literacy programs that the books can support are given strong preference, so describe your reading program specifically. · Books for ages 0 to 5 are in very limited supply; a wider age range brings more variety of titles. · For an ongoing relationship, Scholastic points organizations to its Scholastic Literacy Partner program instead. · Scholastic also prioritizes communities recovering from a crisis or natural disaster, and the form asks whether your request is disaster-related.
