Publix supports organizations that focus on youth, education, reducing hunger and alleviating homelessness.

Requests are accepted from nonprofit organizations in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.

The request types Publix reviews include donations, gift cards, giveaways and program ads.

Donations for school clubs and teams are made payable to the school, not to booster clubs.

All requests are submitted online.

Tips from the program page: Apply at charitabledonations.publix.com. New users receive a password once registered, which lets them log back in to submit the request. · Booster clubs should not apply in their own name: Publix pays school gifts to the registered school. · Publix's page points to its Frequently Asked Questions page and its community relations managers for further questions. · Schools and 501(c)(3) organizations working in the focus areas can also look at Publix Charities, which takes grant requests and requests for support for fundraising events.

How to apply

Publix Supermarkets asks every request to include the following.

  • Be a nonprofit organization in one of the eight states Publix lists.
  • Register the organization on the Publix Charitable Donations website before submitting; the request cannot be processed until the organization is registered.
  • The person who registers should be an employee or board member of the nonprofit who is responsible for making requests. Volunteers should make sure someone who works for the organization has registered it.
  • For a school club or team, make sure the school is registered and apply on behalf of the school.

When to ask

Publix Supermarkets states a lead time of 4 weeks. Count back that far from your event date and send the request no later than then.

Across more than 25,000 fundraising events in our own records over fifteen years, March, April and May are the busiest months for fundraisers, October is the next busiest, and July and December are the quietest.

Work backwards from your event rather than forwards from today, and if your event falls in the spring peak, ask earlier than the stated lead time rather than later.
